Created in honor of the deceased Comte Patrick de Vienne, a French adventurer who lived his passions as a pilot, horseman, hotelman, and entrepreneur on three continents, the fragrance was presented by Alexis de Vienne, son of the senior de Vienne, and spokesperson for the fragrance.
Alexis, his mother, and three sisters chose the notes of this woody floral fragrance based on smells that most remind them of their father: pepper, salt water, dirt, red wine, and gun powder. Top notes include bergamot and grapefruit, middle notes include rose, geranium, pepper and patchouli, and base notes include benzoin, cedar, vetiver, musk and oakmoss.
The bottle bears the the crest of Jean de Vienne, first admiral of the french navy, including an eagle with outstretched wings, and beneath it, an anchor symbolizing Patrick de Vienne’s singular sailboat crossing of the Pacific from Los Angeles to Tahiti in 1972. Embarking with a crew of 12 on the three mast ‘Blackfin’, de Vienne’s adventures included rescuing a ship wrecked family along the way!
Like all Prudence Paris fragrances, the paper for the ‘Alexis’ packaging is beautifully hand-crafted at the proprietary paper mill near Beaumont du Perigord in France.
